Not only is Hearthstone a really fun game, it’s not a complex game with a huge learning curve. The tutorials are very noob friendly and allow you play with out the annoying long tutorials where you have to read a lot and don’t get to play the game as much. If you have fears about this game being to complicated, don’t be.
Hearthstone makes the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game look like a walk in the park.
Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft is a live 1 vs 1 turn based card game against players world wide. Players take turns playing cards from their hand, casting spells, equipping weapons, or summoning minions to fight for your avatar’s behalf. Just like in World of Warcraft you pick a class. In Hearthstone you get to be one of nine famous heroes and classes from World of Warcraft.
Sadly, unlike World of Warcraft Trading Card where you had many heroes to choose from, in Hearthstone you can only have 1 hero per class. The available classes and heroes are: Mage (Jaina Proudmoore), Priest (Anduin Wrynn), Warlock (Gul’dan), Paladin (Uther the Lightbringer), Warrior (Garrosh Hellscream), Druid (Malfurion Stormrage), Hunter (Rexxar), Rogue (Valeera Sanguinar), and Shaman (Thrall). In Hearthstone you get a deck of 30 cards, which you can completely customize yourself, or if you can simply choose the pre-made basic decks. Customizing your deck will give you a substantially better advantage when you’re in a tough situation. After picking your hero, you get a set of class cards to choose from which are unique to your class only and are usually very useful in game. The last thing to do is fill the rest of your deck up with minions. With minions you can make a variety of deadly decks to use against other players.
There are five different modes you can play in Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft. Quest Mode or Practice Mode is basically a tutorial where you play against computer players. Duel Mode lets you challenge your friends to a Match. Play Mode is where you can be matched up against other players in Casual Play or you can play in Ranked Mode which allows you to earn special medals as special rewards to show off in the Hearthstone community. Arena Mode, for the expert players, costs gold or real money to play. Players also have to choose between 3 cars until they have 30 for their deck. Each Arena lasts until the player has lost three times, won twelve times, or retire their deck. Rewards are granted depending on how many games you won.
The more legendary and rare cards you have the better Decks you can make. Blizzard added a three different ways to get these legendary and rare cards. Expert Packs are a gamble but well worth the try. Each pack comes with 5 Expert Hearthstone Cards, and at least one card will be a rare or better. In the Hearthstone shop you can buy Expert Packs with game made gold or real life currency. Don’t fret, in game gold is easy to make with new dailies each day and renewable dailies for each class. Another way to get a particular card you want is in Crafting Mode. In this mode you can disenchant cards you don’t want to create card you do want with arcane dust.
Hearthstone is unique in the way it looks and sounds. Your character is thrown into a different looking setting every time you play. There are little cute items to the side of the board that you can play with. When you get board of waiting for the other played to choose his cards you can pass some time just breaking things, lighting a fire, cannon balling your opponent, or making a rainbow. Card and Hero sounds are also apart of the game, every card that you bring out on the the playing field has its own unique voice and witty thing to say. Your hero also has a few things to say that you can control at your will.
To celebrate Hearthstone‘s release, Blizzard promoted a free mount on World of Warcraft by winning 3 games in Arena or Play mode.
