World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor

Filed inside: Games

For World of Warcraft‘s 10th anniversary November 23, 2014 they are celebrating with a new expansion; Warlords of Draenor.

As WoW players we are all used to new character races or a new class coming out. But with this expansion Blizzard decided to change it up with a new feature called Garrisons. Garrisons are your personal fortress woven into the story of Warlords of Draenor.

If you’re thinking Garrisons are just like player housing that is so popular in other MMO’s, you are dead wrong. Included with your new Garrison you will be able to hire followers to inhabit your land. These follower NPC’s are more complex then the generic scripted NPC’s we are used to. For example, you could send workers to mine ore for you all day, but they may become tired and decide to take a break at your local tavern– which you also created. Your followers also have an item level, stats, and you can even arm them with follower specific gear.

Another feature Blizzard is implementing is new character models! This will keep the game feeling fresh and current, as you can see in these pictures. These new World of Warcraft models are much more detailed than before.

One thing we like about these new models is that they have opposable thumbs and swaying hair. With new 3.0 MMO’s coming out such as Elder Scrolls Online and Archage do you think the 10 year old MMO king can keep its crown? With new lands to explore such as the Tannan Jungle a dense beautiful land, it’s hard to believe that it will become the red dessert that makes Hellfire Peninsula. Will new character models and Garrisons be enough to keep players interested and will it keep the nostalgia of previous expansions or give us a brand new feeling all together, we think so.

At the end of Mists of Pandaria we remember Garrosh Hellscream being overthrown by the Alliance and Horde factions and was to stand trial in Pandaria. Garrosh has other plans in store for us, as he escapes and goes back in time before the destruction of Outland. Garrosh brings technology from the present time to Draenor, he bands together well-known Orcs from lore and creates the Iron Horde, which is the main antagonist in Warlords of Draenor. There are many more features to the Warlords of Draenor expansion, so get ready to pick up that sword and fight the Iron Horde!
